Boral USA Expands Community Relations Initiatives

11/27/2006

An announcement from Emery Severin, President & CEO

Boral recognizes the importance of working closely within the communities in which we operate. In our ongoing efforts to expand our community relations involvement, we are pleased to announce that we have entered a National Partnership with HomeAid.

HomeAid is a non-profit charitable organization in the United States whose mission is to build dignified housing where temporarily homeless families and individuals can rebuild their lives.

Founded in 1989 by the Building Industry Association of Southern California, HomeAid is a unique, innovative organization whose pioneering work brings together expertise from throughout the building industry to address this major social problem.

HomeAid develops partnerships with builders, service providers, building materials suppliers, communities and government agencies. Working together, these partners build homes to shelter families and individuals in transition due to circumstances such as domestic violence, abuse, job loss, catastrophe, or desertion.

More than 60,000 people have been served by HomeAid. To date, this organization has completed 120 shelters, providing 4,740 beds; another 57 projects are being developed. Hillview Acres in Corona, CA and Hope Haven in Colorado, provide a safe place for pregnant teens with no home to go to. In Colorado, Discovery Home provides a group home environment for young teenage boys in transition, and in Atlanta, GA, Second Mile Home serves as a transitional home for women and children.

These are just a few examples of the type of housing and the range of people being helped through HomeAid and their building industry partners. Many of these industry partners are familiar names: Beazer Homes, KB Homes, John Wieland Homes, Ryland Homes, and Lennar Homes, to name just a few.

As a leading manufacturer and distributor of building and construction materials in the United States, Boral has made both a financial and materials in-kind commitment to HomeAid’s mission. We anticipate opportunities for Boral employee involvement at many of the local HomeAid Chapters. We will keep you posted on future HomeAid/Boral news and activities.
